Important US-textile/fiber artist Marian Clayden shirt-jacket with a sculptural hi-low hem......... Clayden is most famous for her hand-dyed silks and velvet burnouts...... They're in a handful of important U. Sadly it seems like her website just went down..... She had a prolific career and has some amazing velvet and silk work...
Brilliant button down velvet shirt-jacket with round neck and long sleeves. A plush deep velvet burnout in a floral trellis motif and done in a glistening and luminous green & plum. It twists colors upon light hitting. I did not hang it straight while photographing, but there are no structural "offs" or hem issues, it is vertically symmetrical. Unbelievably soft and luxurious with a slightly oversized swinging fit. It's hi-low, This top was (and still ahead) way above its time. Fine fiber art, I wish the masses could appreciate garments like this today. Condition is mint with no flaws or faults. Shirt-jacket came in with a matching green shell/tank which I failed to photograph. It will be included as it goes with this piece.
It has quite padded shoulders but will be included. I think this piece could be easily styled with many separates....it's stunning in person. 48 inch bust, 24 inch front length, 28 inch back length, 21 inch sleeve length, 76 inches around bottom of a-line hem. A giant thank you to our wonderful customers in the U.
